The Christian Family Legacy Trust: Biblical Stewardship Through Applied Self-Governance

A Christian Family Legacy Trust is an irrevocable, long-term family trust that puts biblical stewardship into a lasting legal structure.

A Christian Family Legacy Trust is an irrevocable, long-term family trust that puts biblical stewardship into a lasting legal structure. Family assets move into the trust now, during life, and are held for children, grandchildren, and the generations after them, guided by the written family values the original founding Settlors choose. Under Wyoming law, a qualifying trust can last up to 1,000 years. The Spacious Place writes it for your house as a done-for-you single Family Legacy Trust, or as the core layer of a full three-strand Dynasty Architecture.

"A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children." — Proverbs 13:22

An old idea with a new name

Scripture speaks of inheritance as a Trust passed down from generation to generation. Most people miss the prevalence of family trusts in Scripture because Bible calls them covenants. Covenants are meant to be everlasting. To our ancient ancestors, words were considered property and a father's blessing carried it forward across generations.

God keeps His covenants with families for a thousand generations. Family Legacy Trusts are at the center of all Biblical history from Adam to Noah to Abraham and Sarah to David and even to Christ. The Bible itself is organized by two separate trusts: the Old Covenant and the New Covenant.

The Family Legacy Trust is a new name for something as old as the family itself. It’s an everlasting family covenant that acts as the container of a house that is kept and stewarded from generation to generation. It is family planning with a biblical worldview at its center. To be a founding family Settlor is a sacred honor. It’s real spiritual leadership, not playing church.

What makes it Biblical and Faith-Based

The Biblical proverb states that a righteous and good man leaves a lasting legacy, generational wealth, and wisdom not just for his children, but for multiple generations of his descendants (Proverbs 13:22). This is a high calling.

The legal structure of a Family Legacy Trust can be used by any family. What makes it Biblical and faith-based is the purpose you write into it and the way your family lives inside it. When you commit your way to God, He directs your steps and watches over your family covenant for you.

Scripture refers to a self-governing, private Family Legacy Trust as a City-on-a-Hill.

  • A faith-based purpose, in your founding words. The settlors' statement of intent can name faith, stewardship, perpetuity, privacy, and generational succession as the reasons the trust exists. It is an expression of your family's freedom of religion and unlimited right to private agreement written into the document every future trustee must follow. No outside party can impair the fulfillment of an obligation of a private agreement is a protection secured by the Constitution of the United States of America.
  • Private family law. The trust becomes your family’s private law: the rules of the house. In Biblical terms it’s the invisible Mount Zion. It’s invisible because it’s private to your family, the public never sees it. The family law is the foundation upon which your family’s spacious place and homestead is built and governed. The Spacious Place Family Legacy Trust ensures your trust stands on the strongest mountain of trust law in the world, armored by layers of the most elite trust provisions ever crafted for generational continuance.
  • Private family treasury. By moving your assets and income into a Family Legacy Trust, your wealth becomes 100% family-controlled and directed. Everything lives outside of “Caesar’s system.” No probate, no income tax, no capital gains tax, no inheritance tax, no public record. Generational freedom from usury opens the windows of heaven for holistic prosperity to flow abundantly and compound exponentially. Your own private family treasury becomes a flourishing household economy or “city upon a hill.”
  • A family council. A simple rhythm for gathering, teaching, and apprenticing the next generation of stewards. As Abraham blessed Isaac and Jacob, your seed shall never cease to sit upon the family throne.
  • The homestead kept. The Family Legacy Trust can hold family homes, land, and other legacy assets so the next generation can inherit the blessing of using them. Rather than dividing everything up and liquidating everything the family has built, the family legacy and assets stays in the family from generation to generation.
One covenant standing over three generations — the founding settlors, their children, and their children’s children.

How you live now

The Family Legacy Trust is not about death at all. It is not an instruction of “last wishes” for someday. It is the Biblical way of ordering the family's affairs today around the divine principles of self-governance, familial sovereignty, and dominion. Assets move into the trust during your life. The founding Settlors serve as the first board of sacred stewards. Offspring grow up knowing there is a family house, a place of belonging that they will one day help keep. They inherit an office of sacred stewardship over the family’s affairs, not just a check. An inheritance that stays in the family and out of the system.

"The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage." — Psalm 16:6

A gentle word about fit

An everlasting covenant is no small thing; it is a holy thing. It is an agreement between three parties: the settlors, the trustees, and the beneficiaries. Where two or three are gathered God is there, and God keeps His covenants for a thousand generations.

It is not to be entered lightly. An irrevocable trust asks something of you: you give up the ability to simply undo it. That is part of its strength and part of its seriousness. You transition from living like the world does, as an “owner” operating by contracts, to living under divine law as a “steward” in covenant. A good Family Legacy Trust is also only as faithful as the stewards who keep it. It is required in a steward that he be found faithful. We encourage every family to pray over the decision and talk it through at the table.

Your path

  1. Go all in on family, forever. Is establishing an everlasting and perpetual family structure right for your family? Explore your family’s beliefs about stewardship, legacy, self-governance, and family continuance. Put your stewardship principles and beliefs into words together. We share God’s opinion: what He puts together let no man separate. Family is the one thing worth investing in forever.
  2. Choose your structure. The Legacy Folio comes with one done-for-you Family Legacy Trust ($2,000), or with an add-on Wyoming Digital Asset LLC ($2,589) for families with crypto and digital holdings. For families with land, a family business, or much to steward, the Dynasty Architecture includes a Private Legacy Trust, a Pass Through Trust, your own Private Family Trust Company as a perpetual family steward ($6,500).
  3. We write it for your house. Thirty days, done for you, bound and delivered to you in heirloom grade, full-grain American leather.
  4. Live in self-governing private familial dominion. Execute the documents, tailor it to your family by adding your custom family amendments, move your property into the trust and begin living in your new glorified estate.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Christian Family Legacy Trust?

It is an irrevocable, multi-generational family trust built around biblical stewardship principles. Family assets are placed in the trust during life and held for the generations that follow, guided by written family values. The legal framework is based on world-class American trust law; the Christian purpose is written into the trust by the family.

Is there a Biblical basis for trusts?

Scripture speaks often of inheritance, stewardship, and covenant carried across generations, including Proverbs 13:22 and the everlasting covenants made with families like Adam, Abraham, David, and others. Many Christian families see an everlasting family trust as a faithful way to steward what God has given.

Can a trust include tithing or charitable giving?

Yes. A trust can state charitable intentions and guide how trustees give, and many families include tithing principles. The Spacious Place Family Legacy Trust has an optional Malachi 3:10 provision that families can adopt that automatically sweeps 10% of all revenue into the family storehouse as a built-in mechanism for abundance and growth of the family treasury. How charitable provisions are taxed depends on their design.

Can our faith be written into the trust?

Yes. You can write whatever principles, values and beliefs you want in your trust. The settlors' statement of intent can name faith, stewardship, and family values as the trust's purpose, and trustees are bound to carry out the trust's purpose. It is one of the most beautiful and personal provisions of a Family Legacy Trust.

Does this replace a will?

Not necessarily. It’s much better than a will. Many families still keep a simple will to name guardians for minor children and to cover anything left outside the trust. A Family Legacy Trust doesn’t leave the burden of asset transfer to the next generation. It settles everything now. The Settlors move everything into trust and begin living in their private dominion. Future generations are trained for stewardship succession. A will basically ignores and puts off self-governance, privacy, dominion and stewardship and leaves it for a future generation to figure out.

How long can a Christian Family Legacy Trust last?

Depends on the jurisdiction. Some states have limits that end around one lifetime (90 years for instance). In states like Wyoming and South Dakota it can last 1,000 years or more. It must have a trustee with a qualifying Wyoming connection. In the Dynasty Architecture, the family's own Wyoming Private Family Trust Company serves as that trustee.

Is The Spacious Place a Christian law firm?
